Comand Post Display System (CPDS)
As the pace and intensity of modern warfare has evolved the days of large, slow to move, tent based TOCs are numbered. Peer-to-peer and peer-to-near-peer combat have become significantly more dynamic with the widespread introduction of drones and smart munitions. Most recently this has been witnessed in the Ukrainian-Russian conflict where both sides have lost high ranking officers in targeted attacks on command and control infrastructure.
To survive and continue to be effective in their missions future command posts will need to be smaller, while deploying, striking and moving faster. These are critical capabilities of the Army’s new mobile and tailorable command post solution, known as the Command Post Integrated Infrastructure, or CPI2.
One core component of the CPI2 program is the Command Post Display System (CPDS). This equipment set includes tactical display units and the necessary electronics to route battlefield information between various sources and the displays. Projector and LCD based display systems have been utilized in this capacity for decades, however legacy solutions will not be adequate for the fast paced demands of the CPI2 program. Vellicom Tactical has developed new designs for expeditionary display and video management systems that will be ideal for the program’s requirements.
Triple Projector System (TPS)
Vellicom Tactical provides the ideal solution for the Large CPDS requirement with the Triple Projector System. This unit meets the demands of the TOC of the future in several ways:
Three large (60”) display areas (up to 12 smaller feeds with optional quad spitters) allow battle captains to quickly achieve situational awareness by reviewing a significant amount of information.
The TPS packs down into an extremely compact and rugged case, making transportation and storage easier during TOC jumps.
The whole system deploys on top of its own transport case in just minutes with no projector alignment required.
Thanks to the use of ultra-short-throw projectors the TPS requires minimal space to deploy with a depth of only 28” and no projector arms extending overhead or below. Height is minimized too at 73” allowing it to fit in most existing tactical shelters or expando vans.
Audio-Video Distribution Center (AVDC)
Displaying information is only half of the equation for the CDPS. Battle captains also need to to efficiently route distinct video feeds to the displays. This is where Audio-Video Distribution Centers come in. Vellicom Tactical offers three sizes of dedicated video management systems in shock protected rack cases. These have the ability to intuitively manage dozens of video feeds from laptops, CCTV cameras, VTC systems and other sources. They also include quad-view image processors that allow up to four feeds to be mapped onto one display to make the most of the available screen dimensions.
Historically connecting and disconnecting data cables has been a bottleneck in setting up or taking down a command post. Vellicom Tactical alleviates this issue through pre-made cable bundles and clear cable labeling.
Quadview PowerLift Didsplay
Vellicom Tactical’s all new Quadview PowerLift Display is the ultimate option for the small CPDS. Deploying this system is as easy as removing the case lid (which converts into a convenient work station), plugging in the power cord, pushing a button and connecting input cables.
This simple and quick setup process is ideal for rapidly jumping TOCs on its own, but the Quadview PowerLift Display has one more trick up its sleeve: an integrated video distribution unit with the capacity to display up to four distinct video feeds on to one monitor. That capability makes the Quadview PowerLift Display a true one case solution, or TOC in a box.
